In an IM to Emily, a Bio-Engineering Grad student, trying to explain myself:
I want to keep learning some kind of fundamental understanding of nature or the universe. Physics was a favorite, but the math is just too pissant for me. I love science, but I hate math, and bio is a good combination of the two. I want some way to be creative, in whatever I do. I need to have something I can sign my name to and feel happy that this is done, this is productive, this could really help somebody. My energy has been spent well, either through a new idea that other people can play with or a new application or solution to some problem... But, I also need something that's not math, not engineering, not a grind. I really love people (for the carreer, I need something with lots of people)... Looking at how they work, and how they think, how they perceive things, how they take in information, rearrange it and spit it back out. Either through literature or philosophy, they explore the silly great themes that really are interesting and really do mean something... I love the way people play with words and use words to create new meanings or get their meanings across rigght, or get their meanings thoughtout completely and successfully. I need electrons and themes for a major, and hopefully for a carreer as well. Emily: I understand... i am the same way... :)
