We saw Shrek 2 tonight with the house: Tom and Ang, Eric and Annie, Nick, Mike and I, and then went out for drinks to TGIFridays, where Eric and Nick worked for three or four years. I think, as Will Durst put it, that they're a lot like Bill Clinton. They just can't turn it off. In the same way that Bill, after 9/11 immediately started hugging women, Eric and Nick have a certain way about them. They've used the same charm and charisma on people for so many years that it just oozes off of them. They tried to get free drinks from the bar because they knew the bartender, but it's not really his place to give them free drinks. They kinda knew the waitress, but she wasn't particularly impressed. Some of the older ones who were used to the charm came by and hung out, which was fun, but the people who were unfamiliar with the pair were probably left with a rather unfortunate impression.
I'm used to the charisma, and I'll miss it. Hark, Annie & Tom graduate tomorrow. Eric will be moving out, and the fabulous duo (of Eric and Nick) will come to an end after 2 great years. No longer will they get dumb ideas and be able to pursue them with the ease and ability they have pursued so many, like the javelin-into-the-wall, the trebuchet, the climbing wall, the kitten-in-the-blender, the A&W-can-trap-wire, the 50-pound-bags-of-rice-and-the-fire-hydrant-to-hold-it-up, the wisemen, the days of the week... all of it. Anything that would get a "bad dog". Things will be different. Probably more livable. But I'll still miss them.
