Tonight was Allison's 21st birthday party. I didn't really get a chance to talk to her because there were a good 130 people in attendance, but I did get a chance to hang out with the folks I met back in freshman year, some of whom I have seen only on and off for the past year or two. As a birthday gift I gave her a prototype of my Captain Morgan's Cider mix, which has Elvis Costello on it in her honor, and a copy of the Cien Anos mix I made for senior year of highschool. It was a great party; I invited Diana to come along because I actually met her doing Earthworks freshman year. She got cake in her face and lime in her corona, and couldn't have been happier. :)

The party was a costume party, any 20th century zeitgeist, icon, idea, or genius. I went as "the alcoholism gene" by printing out a picture of DNA and carrying around a flask with me. It was tons of fun.

Mary chilled with her ladies back in Annapolis, because we've been very, very busy. Last weekend we went up to Mass, where we spent the summer, and saw Cheryl and Lisa and Gunter and Leslie and the house. It was so welcoming now that Cheryl and Lisa are living there; there are plants and extra couches, and a sweet odor. It was the weekend of Oyster Fest in Wellfleet, and there were tons of yummy oysters and other foods to be had. I'd never seen the town so packed.

The weekend before that I went to Colorado, and Mary went home. Colorado was beautiful. Absolutely wonderful. The school (U of C at Boulder) was very similar to Maryland - College Park, but surrounded by mountains on all three sides. Hannah looked great, as happy as I've seen her in a while. Her boyfriend Nick is perfect for her; they're such a cute couple. Their kitten, Moon Unit (named after Frank Zappa's kid, because, duh, obviously, it just seems to fit somehow) is adorable, and I was there for her proud break from being a house cat to an outdoor cat.

That has been my last month, in a nutshell. Classes have been good, Micro and Orgo are a pain but I understand them; the question is whether I can demonstrate that on the tests or not. Micro tests I dont' really have a problem with, but chemistry is the devil. Phil has been great, I'm about to start writing papers. For international ethics I'm thinking somethign about rights and origins of rights, and whether I can find some kind of fundamnetal distinction that makes them easier to repeal in times of emergency or easier to uphold in times of humanitarian crisis, 'cause it's kindof counterintuitive to have both. I don't have a clue as to what to write for ethical theory. Something similar, hopefully, but what? Anyway, that's been the past month. It's been good; I got to take a break. Now I'm going to sleep.
