Monday, June 20, 2005 - Tasty River Fish
5:00 In Buenos Aires, quite possibly the most ironicaly named city in the world. It's a holiday, Dia Del Bandera, so we're not in class. It's not like we'd really be in class anyway. We usually have about 2 hours a day, and then have the rest of the time to sleep or read or chill out. It's amazing how fast the days go by, though. Small errands take a while without language skills and with public transportation.

We just returned this morning from a trip to Iguazu Falls, on the borer of Argentina, Brasil and Paraguay. Anita, Sarah Hardcore and I took the 17 hour bus ride up to the falls, but it didn't seem like too long. I finally got a chance to listen to the Decemberists' first album, which was the perfect album to discover as the bus rolled on through the night. Through the windows, it seemed like the pampas were covered in snow (everything's green / through the tinted windows on the train up to Racine), although they clearly weren't. Even though we're in the dead of winter here (where's my summer?? bring back my summer!) the air is still only around a a brisk 50 degrees F. Everybody's bundled up like no other, and I'm down here without a coat. (Because I forgot one, actually, not because I'm too proud. It is getting a little chilly). Iguazu was subtropical, and although it was only sunny on Sunday, it was warm and humid Friday and Saturday, quite a pleasant change from B.A. We leave on Thursday to go to the provinces, which should also be equally north and therefore equally warm.

Mmm, don't let me forget to talk about the Subirito (sp), the tasty local river fish from Iguazu. It was quite delicious.
