Friday, July 01, 2005 - We are the kids, we are the kids, we are the kids from America...
My fellow students are rockin' it out, although there are times when we all get a little annoyed with each other and have to take some time away. I was going to go to the mineral thermal baths today, but figured it would just be too much hastle. Instead, I'm going to find a good park bench, eat a lomito, and down three or four chapters of Harry Potter in spanish. I haven't been in an intensive group like this for a very long time (really, I can't remember the last time). In all my time at Maryland, the exception being roommates, I don't think I saw the same person three days in a row. Sometimes, my brain starts thinking that that might have contributed to not finding tight friendships in the great state of MD, but this program shows that it's not always a sure thing. I have fun with these people, but I probably wouldn't go out with them much next year even if I was staying at College Park. My stories and jokes haven't really worked on them, which is frustrating. Alas, this shows that people can get along even if they don't have much in common. [Addition 8/12/06]: I'm not sure what that last line was supposed to be about; this post didn't involve what I had in common with the class at all. I want to take it out; I think the second to last sentence is actually a better thought-closer, but alas, I will stick to my pledge to myself and refuse to rewrite digital history, no matter how easy it could be.
