Tuesday, September 13, 2005 - Hello Wisconsin!
Hello Madison; Hello Place! College Park is behind, Madison is here now. Madison, from what I've seen in the past two weeks, is a synthesis of bizzare hippies and comforting corporations. It's small enough that I can get out into the open countryside and avoid the suburbs(two weekends ago Mary and I went to Devils Lake to swim, and this weekend we went to Goose Lake and Mud Lake with one of my professor to start the semester's plant collection catalogue). It's large enough that there's always stuff going on, concerts, clubs, restaurants...

Today I walked past a starbucks (the only one I've seen, in this coffeeshop-laden town) and you could literally smell the corporateness waft out. I think it was some kind of non-fair-trade coffee, but it smelled like corporate to me.

My only complaint is that I wish my neck would stop hurting though; biking everywhere is kinda stressing it.

I'll write more about Wisconsin when I'm not trying to get to sleep early. Ciao!
